John Perry Obituary

John A. Perry, 87, of Burlington, died Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Born December 14, 1937, in Livingston, MT, he was the son of John Addson and Leila Borden Perry. On April 29, 1961, he married Judith Marie Kratovil in Livingston, MT.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the National Guard from November 7, 1962 until May 1, 1969.

John worked for Yellowstone National Park and helped on many ranches in Montana. He later started working as a sheetmetal worker and pipefitter for the railroad, which led him and his family to move to Burlington in 1986.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. He was a member of the Des Moines County Riding Club, and Big Muddy Investment Club. John enjoyed being outdoors; working in his garden, hunting, fishing, riding horses, and working on the farm. He could always be found tinkering on something or remodeling homes. He enjoyed having dinners with his Montana Group. Most of all, John enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, John Perry of Issaquah, WA and Kim (Scott) Lohmann of Sperry, IA; four granddaughters; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and four sisters.

Services will be held Friday, March 21, 2025, in Dodgeville, IA and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Burlington, IA.

My condolences to the entire family. John was a great
guy. A friend, story teller, and a fantastic secretary of
the Big Muddy Investment Club. He kept us all in line.
We will all miss him. Mark McGuire
