Carlos Gutierrez Obituary

Carlos J. Gutierrez
04/26/1931 - 09/06/2025
Carlos J. Gutierrez, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was born in Laredo Texas on April 26, 1931, and passed away peacefully in his home on September 6, 2025, in Laredo Texas.
After graduating Martin High School in 1949, Carlos proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1953 having been deployed to Germany to serve in a counter intelligence unit during the Korean conflict. Upon his return from the military, Carlos received his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Agricultural Science from Texas A&M University. In 1957, he accepted a teaching assignment in Hebbronville, Texas where he met his wife of 68 years, Aida Antonia Zuniga. It was during this time in Hebbronville that he would take his family each summer to Commerce, Texas while attending East Texas State University while working on his Master's Degree in Education (MEd). Upon graduating in 1968, he moved his family to Victoria and then Sugarland, Texas to work as a Counselor for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission (TRC). In 1973, he was promoted to Regional Director of South Texas and moved to Laredo, Texas. Carlos remained with TRC until his retirement in 1993. Upon his retirement, Carlos was provided the opportunity to focus on his true passion, raising cattle at his ranch located in Mexico, bordering Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon. In his final years, our father could no longer manage his ranch and was forced to pull away from the ranch life he so much loved. It is with sincere gratitude that we extend our heartfelt appreciation at this time to his brother, Alfredo Gutierrez, and his nephew, Jose Bernardo Gutierrez, for managing the ranch on his behalf during his final years. We would also like to give special thanks to Esmeralda Armendariz and Fidela Mendoza for all the love and care they bestowed upon our father during his final years.
Left to cherish his life and memories are his wife of 68 years of marriage; Antonia Aida Gutierrez, children Yvonne (Pascal) Asien, Carlos J. (Ma. Elena) Gutierrez, Ana Laura Gutierrez, and Iris (Cynthia Cantu) Gutierrez; grandchildren, Christopher Pascal (Karen) Asien, Nicolas (Julie Ann) Asien, Jonathan Asien, Gabriella (Juan Manual) Hernandez, and Kristina (Lucas Rincon Caban) Gutierrez; great grandchildren, are the twins Juan Carlos and Jay Manual Hernandez, and Katalina Gutierrez Caban; brother, Alfredo Gutierrez and sister, Beatrice Ramos.
The family will be receiving condolences on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a rosary will commence at 7 p.m.
