Esteban Ramos Obituary

ESTEBAN E. RAMOS JR.
11/16/1937 - 02/27/2025
Esteban E. Ramos Jr, aged 87 entered into God's Heavenly Kingdom on Thursday, February 27, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Esteban was born on November 16, 1937, in Laredo, Texas to Esteban Ramos Sr. and Julia Zulema Ramos.
The eldest of 10 siblings, "Tevan" as he was lovingly called by his siblings and friends was always by his father's side, assisting Dad with delivery of "Falstaff" Beer to all the local bars in town circa 1945. He met so many of his father's friends during that period that he would later become close friends with.
After attending Martin High School Dad enrolled in the U.S. Navy in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1960. Returning back to Laredo he met the love of his life, Anna M. Garza "La Cuata". They married in November 1962 and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Dad was a true entrepreneur and avid reader always eager to learn about important worldly figures especially his love for our Country. He would never fail to remind family, friends or anyone he befriended about the importance of voicing your concern by voting.
His career began working for the old Laredo Brick Co back in the late 60's early 70's. Afterwards dedicating a period of work at the City of Laredo Model Cities Program up to 1980. He was eager to become a self-employed entrepreneur and soon opened up a Home Inspection Service company to prospective buyers of homes. He was a close friend of the late Honore Ligarde, who was a prominent figure in Laredo Banking, who one day called Dad up to tell him he had recommended him to a General Manager position with a trucking company Alpha Transfer, which was owned by a prominent group of Agentes Aduanales. That was the spark that fueled his interest in logistics and eventually opened up his own freight and warehousing company, Tejas Logistics which he successfully ran until his retirement.
Dad will be forever known for his extreme generosity always ready to assist those in need and offered so many acts of charity too numerous to keep track of. He was a regular at Tony Roma's together with his son Dennis, who was his trusty and loyal sidekick, and there they would talk to many patrons and catch up on local and worldly events, while enjoying a meal.
Dad was known for his famous Menudo which he prepared every Holiday Season and still is requested to this very day by family and friends.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents Esteban and Zulema Ramos, brothers, Samuel, Alonzo, and sisters Zulema Ramos Gonzalez and Silvia Ramos.
He is survived by his wife Anna M. Ramos, his children Steve (Gaby), Dennis (Claudia), JJ (Wendy) and JoAnna (Matthew) Gibson; grandchildren, Brooke, Caro, Steffi, Dennis, JJ, Esteban, Christopher, Jacob, siblings, Jose Tomas, Roberto, Manuel, Jorge and Graciela Verastegui. Also surviving him are sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews too numerous to name but loved all the same!
Our special thanks to Dr. Carlos Espinosa and Dr. JR Garcia for all their love and support given to Dad. Also, a very special thanks to Dad's BFFL, Dr. Humberto Varela whose friendship spanned 70 years.

The last time I saw Steve was about about seven years ago in Laredo. Coming out of the mall we met at the parking lot and he gave me a great big hug after so many years. I really got to know him and his sister well in high school. After high school back then our futures were just the flip of a coin so he joined the Navy and I The Marines. Within the years, Steve became a very successful businessman and that made me very proud of his accomplishments throughout his lifetime. Steve left quite a legacy for his children to also equal or better in their lifetimes. My good friend Chago Garza, also brother in law to Steve, always spoke well of him. I moved to San Antonio in 2018 and was also the last time we met.
My deepest condolences to his wife and family and also to his sister, Tom and his other brother.
He is now in the Glory of God. MAY HE REST IN PEACE.
