Irma Miguel Obituary

Irma Alardin San Miguel
01/20/1941 - 10/19/2025
A very bright light that lit up our home and our lives, Irma Alardin San Miguel, 84, is now in the presence of our Lord. She was surrounded by her children and family on Sunday, October 19, 2025when her mission in life was completed. However, her light will continue to shine in our lives forever.
Mrs. San Miguel is preceded in death by her beloved husband, the Rev. Deacon Leonel San Miguel, Sr; parents, Federico Alardin and Luisa Molano Alardin; parents in law, Benito San Miguel and Leonor San Miguel and numerous brothersand sisters.
Left to cherish her memory and carry her torchare her children, Leonel (Blanca) San Miguel, Jr., Raquel L. San Miguel and David Amaya, Melinda (Ricardo) Martinez, Charlie (Gabriela) San Miguel,Honorable Constable Rolando (Gabriela) San Miguel Sr; grandchildren, Arturo (Cristy) Perez, Kristina (Ricardo) Gonzalez, Jesse Garcia- Perez, Gabriela (Juan) Gomez, Ricardo (Gabriela) Martinez Jr., Bianca (Marcos) Gonzalez, Andy (Amanda) Laurel, Carlos (Monica) San Miguel, Roberto Carlos (Gabriela) San Miguel, Marina Perez, Angelica (John) Martinez-Atkins, Amalie San Miguel, Julie Anne San Miguel, Mia San Miguel, Aryana San Miguel, Leonel San Miguel III, Rolando San Miguel II; 25 great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and church parishioners.
Irma San Miguel was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend who selflessly gave everything for the good of others thinking of herself last. She served our Lord Jesus Christ at San Martin de Porres and Santa Margarita Catholic Churches as a CCD teacher, assisted her husband Deacon San Miguel with baptismal classes and worked ACTS retreats. She was often referred to as a firecracker because she had the energy of a joyful Christian. Whenever she did something, it was for her family and friends; never for herself. Her cooking, wow! She cooked the most amazing meals and tortillas with an over abundant ingredient of love, which was the glue that kept her family together. Her cooking is legendary in the San Miguel house hold.
She was a very reliable and dependable secretary to several principals and counselors in LISD.
Everyone at work loved her and her homemade tacos.
Irma had an incredible memory and displayed various forms of intelligence including emotional, interpersonal, logical, linguistic, and spiritual. She was given so much by God and poured out all she was given onto all whom she came across. She did so selflessly and without calculating what it was going to cost her much like Our Lady. She seemed to have known almost everyone in Laredo and with her impeccable memory was quick to connect family ties. As we step back and look at her entire life, we see how she embodied the life of a true Christian. GOD first, everyone else next and her, always last. If you knew her, then you know this about it her. The loss we are experiencing is only tolerable knowing that we will, through God's grace in His love be reunited.
The family will be receiving condolences on Thursday, October 23, 2025 in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 from Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services to San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am. I met Irma when she was a drum majotte at Martin School. She married my cousin Leonel. Every time I saw her, she was very nice and loving and appreciated us very much. What a wonderful person. I left Laredo right after graduation when I joined the Navy. I retired in 1981 and settled in Corpus Christi. Tried to find family members, especially the San Miguel but had no luck. My father was brother to Leonor. All family members last name was Davis except for my father, he changed it to Dives.
My deepest condolences to the San Miguel family in this time of sorrow. We will pray for Irma´s soul and for the whole family. Love you all. Joe Dives III

My condolences to all of her family. Mrs. San Miguel was a great friend and co-worker during her years at Lamar Middle School and the VMT Magnet School. She and Deacon San Miguel were also great friends with my parents, Matías Jr. and Esther Arámbula. May she rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.
