Joseph Slaughter Obituary

Joseph Hampton Slaughter III
07/06/1940 - 03/14/2025
Joseph Hampton Slaughter III, known to many as a rancher, businessman, and dedicated family man, entered the Kingdom of God on March 14th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born and raised in Laredo, Texas, Joe grew up on the Slaughter Farm, which was later donated and became Slaughter Park. His legacy in the community, as well as his contributions to various industries, will be remembered for generations.
Joe attended TMI, Southern Methodist University, North Texas University, and Monterrey Tech. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force, which marked the beginning of a life dedicated to hard work, adventure, and service. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Randolph and Corrine Hamilton Slaughter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Catherine Black Slaughter; his son, Joseph Hampton Slaughter IV (Cuatro); his daughter, Elise Slaughter Webb and her husband, Chris Webb; and his three grandsons, Joseph Hampton Slaughter V, William Boone Slaughter, and Blake Hampton Webb. Joe cherished his family and spent countless hours with them, from family vacations to the day-to-day joys of ranch life.
Throughout his life, Joe wore many hats. He was a rancher, farmer, private pilot, and an international businessman. His business ventures in Mexico earned him the nickname "ZacaTejano." Joe was a proud member of the Society of Martha Washington, the Rotary Club, and the Petroleum Club of San Antonio. He also served as a board member of Union National Bank and supported many charitable causes as a philanthropist. Whether in the air, on the ranch, or with his loved ones, Joe lived life to the fullest.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, both of which were causes dear to Joe's heart.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 10:00 am at Christ Church Episcopal located on 2320 Lane Street. Military honors will be provided by the United States Airforce Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59.
Funeral services are being handled by Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, 1320 Trey Dr., Laredo, Texas 78041. For your convenience, condolences can be left online at www.freddickey.com.
Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.
