Victor Canales Obituary

Victor Canales, 70, went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on the morning of October 19, 2023 in Laredo, Texas. Victor, better known as "El Guy," was unmatched in his kindness and generosity. Everyone who knew him loved him; his easy-going nature and love of life set him apart. He spent many years working at Joe Brand and Dillard's and owned a tuxedo rental business, Vican, and he developed a talent for being able to take one look at a person and know their exact suit size. When he was not at work or spending time with his family, you could often find him viendo un partido de fútbol, with Los Pumas being his favorite team. He laughed often and made others laugh even more, and he was always the person to count on for anything, whether you needed a last-minute suit for an event or a hug to keep you strong. Victor was gentle, patient, attentive, and a blessing to all those who had him in their lives-and he remains a blessing to all those who have him in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marta Buendia and Procopio Canales. His memory lives on through his devoted wife, Laura Canales; his children, Kaleb (Cristi) Canales, Chantal (Misael) Canales-Garcia, Victoria Canales, and Regina Canales; Alicia Canales, mother of Kaleb and Chantal; his grandchildren, Bauer and Sloane; his brothers and sisters, Meche (Chelino †) Lopez, Carlos (Marvelia) Canales, Juan (Lety) Canales, Jesus (Kory) Canales, and Aracely (Gustavo) Rojo; and countless other relatives and friends.

The family will hold a celebration of his life at United Baptist Church on Saturday, October 21, from 4 to 9:30 pm, with a service at 7:30.
