Alfredo Ibarra (Fred) Obituary

Alfredo Perez Ibarra (Fred) was born to his late parents Ramon Sr. and Socorro Ibarra on December 24, 1958 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuaha Mexico. He passed away peacefully on December 15, 2020. Fred moved with his parents and 6 siblings to Terminous California at the age of 4 and was raised in Lodi Ca.  He is now resting with his late sister Olivia I. Lopez and is survived by his siblings: Berta A. Marquez, Ramon Ibarra Jr, Raul Ibarra (Esther), Veronica P. Avalos (Hector) and Jesse Ibarra (Patricia).
From a very young age, Fred had a protective instinct and knew even as a child that he wanted to be a force of good in the world. He would pretend to investigate for any lost items and playfully arrest family members when he thought necessary. It was only natural that he would become a Police Officer. Fred attended school and catechism in Lodi. He graduated from Tokay High where he played varsity football and soccer.  He pursued his interest in criminal justice in high school and volunteered for the Police Cadets. He became a Police Officer at UOP and then continued his career with the Modesto Police Department. He completed his studies at Chapman University with his Masters in 2004. Fred retired as a Master Officer in 2014.  He taught Criminal Justice classes at Modesto Junior College and Kaplan College.  He also dedicated his service to the WAKE UP Program and the DARE Program and coached PAL football. He received Officer of the Year Award in 2003. Helping the youth was important to him. Fred was shot in the line of duty in 1995 and thankfully recovered.  He was that much more valued and loved for his courage and heroism.
Fred loved to travel with friends and co-workers- he forged strong bonds with his police family.  He was a strong devout Catholic man and a member of the Knights of Colombus at St Joseph's Church in Modesto. Fred loved his nieces and nephews, he treated and cared for them as if they were his own children. He is survived by 15 nieces and nephews, 23 grand nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces.
Fred was a caring son, a loving brother, a devoted uncle, and a kind friend. He was a protector, an educator, and a cultured historian in his own right. Fred was also an explorer at heart who cherished traveling out of state and country and learning about the world around him.
Fred was a true hero, with God's grace he persevered through the struggle of his health, losing his father Ramon, mother Socorro, and sister Olivia in same year and losing his nephew Justin just this year, that he had created a close bond with.
Fred was a true role model for those that knew him and a real live super hero to his family, he will be greatly missed. His endearing love for his family, education, and pursuit of good in the
world is the legacy that will continue to live in our memories and in our hearts. We all Love you Fred, Rest in Peace and Rise in His Glory.

Tio Freddie. I will miss you more than beans and rice and I hope you don’t forget how much we love you. You are with Vito and Vita and my Mom and Justin and I know there is nothing but pure bliss where you are. One by one the chain will link again, and we will all be together again.

I remember in the 70's "Freddie" riding along with me as a Cadet/Explorer & I believe later for a brief time as a Reserve Police Officer. He was always relaxed, confident, focused, with a quiet sense of humor. There was never any doubt he would become a Police Officer & be successful. God bless you Freddie, see you in Heaven.

I went to school with him from 7th grade to high school. RIP good friend. I lost track of you after graduation. I am very sad to see you pass. May your family finds the strength to carry on your good deeds and remember that angels don't have to be females but men as well.
