Daniel Flores Obituary

Daniel Lerma Flores, born on January 15, 1946, in Victoria, Texas, peacefully passed away on February 10, 2025, in Fallbrook, California.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Marion (Mickie) Flores, his cherished son, Daniel Aaron Flores, his wife Caitlin, and his three treasured grandchildren, Avett, Bennett, and Lillian.
Dan graduated from Lodi High School in 1964. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1968 and his master's degree in 1979 from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Dan dedicated 36 years of his professional life to San Joaquin Delta College, where he served tirelessly as a counselor.
Dan's athletic prowess shone brightly throughout his life. He was a proud member of the 1963 Lodi High School Championship Football team, famously known as "The Greatest of All Time" and played in the prestigious 1964 High School Shrine game. His remarkable achievements led to his induction into multiple athletic Halls of Fame in both Lodi and Stockton.
Dan was an extraordinary community leader. He served as a trustee, board member, and officer of numerous boards, councils, associations, and organizations that benefited San Joaquin County. He led a life marked by distinction, integrity, dedication, and idealism. A man of great character, his enthusiasm for community service was an inspiration to all who knew him. His commitment to family, community, and students was unwavering.
A celebration of life will be held in Stockton this summer; an internment gathering will be held in the weeks to come. For further information, please reach out to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the University of Pacific Food Pantry or the Delta College Student Food Pantry.

I met Mr. Flores briefly in 1990 for a counseling appt. at Delta Jr. College. The counseling did not last long, but we fell to talking about living in Lodi. He mentioned this championship football team and how very popular its players were for many years, but that even this was not enough to make him feel at home in Lodi he sadly said. So he moved to Stockton, but I see he continued on as a counselor at Delta where he would have met many young people from Lodi and would have had a positive influence upon them I think. I was impressed by him just in the few minutes we talked. Although I soon forgot his name, I never forgot him.
