David Bingen Obituary

David John Bingen was born on January 11, 1945. He left this earth suddenly on July 22, 2024 due to a massive brain bleed. Dave was living in Hazelton, North Dakota with his newfound sweetheart, Gloria Olhauser Pederson. Thankfully he had a very comfortable and well taken care of life with Gloria. She said Dave was the kindest, sweetest man. He enjoyed living about 16 miles from where he started, meeting up with old acquaintances and some of his Stoller cousins. Dave was a member of the American Legion Post 126 of Hazelton.
Dave was born in Linton, North Dakota and moved to Lodi, California at the age of 12. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1963. He was drafted into the US Army in 1966 and was in active duty for two years followed by four years in the Reserve. During his service, Dave was stationed in Germany for 18 months.
Dave was a union ironworker in his younger years. At one point he had a motorcycle shop in Washington state called "Lodi's". As came the nickname "Lodi", which many knew him by. Dave was a wanderer, never married and lived life "Dave's way." He was huge into Harley Davidson and in his older years riding motorcycles was what he missed most. He was the kind of guy who would talk to anybody. As a kid myself I remember the older folks always liking him. (By the way, this is written by Penny, his 12-year younger sister.) Dave spent a lot of time with me when I was growing up and was kind of a cool father figure since he was so much older. He taught me how to drive a stick shift car in 5th grade. I had to come out of first gear over and over until I did it right.
Dave had a gentle soul about him despite his rough living. He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back. I will miss his crazy phone calls that always took you way down memory lane. I hope there is a black "442 Olds" and a Harley (one with an electric start, please) waiting for you. Love you forever, your sister, Penny
Dave is preceded in death by his parents Olaf and Magdalina (Job) Bingen, birth father Jake Stoller and nephew Joe Meyers. He is survived by his daughter Angela Fowler of Valley Springs, CA, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; Sweet-heart Gloria Olhauser Pederson of Hazelton, ND; sister Penny Mae (Bingen) Meyers, brother-in-law Nick Meyers, one niece and one nephew, two great nieces and one great nephew, of Lodi, CA.

A friend for many years and I was so glad to hook up with him again in our twilight years. He was always positive and made you feel better no matter what the situation. His warmth will be sorely missed. Lifting an imaginary cold one high in the air my friend. I can see you roaring down heaven's highways on your bike

Dear Penny,

I was so deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your brother, Dave. I know he was the only person in the world besides your parents who knew what it was like growing up. May you find strength in the shared memories, and may his gentle spirit guide you through the challenging days ahead.

I love you, my friend. With heartfelt condolences.

Sandy
