Don Reynolds Obituary

Don Reynolds passed away peacefully on January 19th. Don was born on October 10th, 1932 in Takoma Park, Maryland, but he grew up in Glendale, California. Don graduated from Hoover High School in Glendale and then attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. After serving two years in the US Army, Don completed his undergraduate studies at Whitworth College in Spokane.
While at Whitworth, Don married Foyann Leach. After graduation, they moved first to Stockton and then to Lodi, where they raised their four children. Don taught middle school for several years in the Woods and Elk Grove school districts. He later became a social worker for San Joaquin County. While working for the County, Don became interested in organizational development. After retiring from the County, Don consulted in that field and completed a master's degree at JFK University.
Don married Ruth Bostwick in 1984. They eventually moved to Sacramento where both Don and Ruth were heavily involved in their church and promoting social justice. They enjoyed traveling, particularly to the eastern sierra, along with rooting for the San Francisco Giants and the UCLA Bruins. Don also enjoyed working in their home's beautiful rose garden.
Don is survived by his wife Ruth, children Kirk (Donna) Reynolds, Kyle (Michele) Reynolds, Karol (Dave) Eisenbeis, Keith (Tracy) Reynolds, step-children Virginia (Kris) Kramer and Ken (Theresa) Bostwick, fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 28th, at St. Marks Methodist Church in Sacramento at 2:00 pm.

Ruth and family, I was so sad to learn of Don's passing. I met him way back in the 70's when we worked with the Board of Migrant Ministry together. We often ate our bag lunches sitting outside by the Courthouse fountain, discussing community needs and how we could help. He was such a wonderfully caring man, warm, gentle, with a ready smile and a very big heart. He gave of himself generously in all he did. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this challenging time. I was just reminiscing with my grandchildren what a wonderful teacher I had in the 7th grade at Woods School . Of course he was so fun and how he took our class to see a SF Giants game. That was about 58 years ago !! Unbelievable...
You left quite an impression in my life.
RIP Mr. Reynolds

I worked with Don for years at the San Joaquin County Welfare Department. He was amazing when he worked with clients that were in some of the most difficult circumstances. He was born to be a wonderful Social Worker. He lived a charmed life and provided inspiration to those who got to meet him.

"Don" you will all ways be in our heart. You and Ruth got married about the same time as Don and I did. We enjoyed the long talks we had with the 2 of you. We will think of your love and good advice you shared with us. Love Mela Vee and Donald.
