Douglas Hieb Obituary

Douglas Benjamin Hieb, born in Lodi, California on October 7, 1943 to the late Elaine and Benjamin Hieb, passed away in Lodi on April 8, 2013 after a six-month battle with leukemia. He was fondly known as "Bump" to some of the many cousins and friends he left behind.
While Doug enjoyed sports and old movies, his abiding passion in life was performance cars and keeping them in tip-top condition. He spent many years in Southern California, where he was self-employed as an auto detailer. After returning to Lodi following his mother's death in 2000, he could often be seen driving her '65 Plymouth Belvedere around town; he had modified it with chromed engine parts and flame stripes on the sides. And in 2010, he purchased his dream car – a red Dodge Challenger.
In 2006, Doug received a Community Improvement Award from the City of Lodi for homeowners who spruce up their properties. He had done some extensive remodeling and added a fresh coat of white paint and red trim plus a white-rail fence.
Doug produced and managed a number of car shows, and after his passing, his Wolf Pack Car Club sponsored a show in his honor. His final resting place is at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, where the name plaque on his cremation niche indicates the true car lover that he was -- "#1 Challenger Guy".  It was his wish that any donations in his memory be made to the Greater Bay Area Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Doug was a friend for over 40 years. We have many memories of him and he will be remembered fondly. Even tho Doug walked to the beat of a different drummer he was a great guy. When ever we drive by his house it will always reflect DOUG. He had a passion for what he loved.....his cars and his home. And Doug , blonds do have more fun.

Bump and I were friends from High School and loved "cruising the drag". He was a good man and we enjoyed his visits to us here in Texas.
