Edward Piona

1942 - 2025

Edward (Ed) Piona, 82, of Lodi, passed away on March 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Ed was born on December 23, 1942, in Oakland to Manuel and Dina Piona. He graduated from Franklin High School and went on to own and operate several successful businesses throughout his life. A skilled builder, mechanic, and welder, Ed's talents contributed to the success of his businesses, from Tradewinds Tires to his final venture, ESP Welding and Fabrications in Lodi, which thrived for many years.
Ed was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Sherrie (Dentleman) Piona, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years. He was a proud father to Michael Piona, Cathy Piona, and Helen Piona, and lovingly raised his granddaughter, Jessica (Redmond) Strobelt, from the age of 10.
Ed adored his grandchildren: Brandy, Amanda, and Chris Smith; Michael, Alisha, and Eddie Piona; and Charlene and Jessica Redmond. He had a loving number of great-grandchildren who called him "Mosha."
He cherished time with his family and was known for his humor, warmth, advice, and generosity. Ed was always up for a good time and had a knack for making those around him laugh.
He had a lifelong passion for cars, golf, poker, and cigars, but above all, he loved traveling with Sherrie and their close friends. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge of Lodi and Corvettes of Lodi.
Ed's generosity and charisma will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at the Lodi Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13, at 2 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
