Kevin Rasmussen Obituary

Kevin Anton Rasmussen, age 48, of Acampo, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2011, at a local convalescent hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Arcadia, California on February 4, 1963, to Anton "Tony" and Betty (Stockdale) Rasmussen. Kevin worked for 15 years at CenCal Fire Sprinklers as a draftsman. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing guitar, making beer, watching his son play sports, and spending time with family and friends. Kevin was also an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he led children's worship and videotaped church services. Friends and family were the most important part of Kevin's life, and he will be dearly missed.
Mr. Rasmussen is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Rasmussen of Acampo; son: Jordan Rasmussen of Acampo; stepdaughter: Nicole Evans of Sacramento; parents: Tony and Betty Rasmussen of Lockeford; grandmother: Lucille Mulligan of Iowa; brother: Jeff (Paula) Rasmussen of Lodi; sister-in-law: Ann Scholl of Lodi; brother-in-law: Ben Scholl (Arlene Spellman) of Acampo; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Wesley and Lydia Rasmussen and Thomas Stockdale and his parents-in-law: Ruben and Marjorie Scholl.
A Celebration of Kevin's Life will take place on Friday, June 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. There is no visitation and committal is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin's name to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 S. Pleasant Ave., Lodi, CA 95240 or Ben Schaffer Cancer Institute, 311 S. Ham Lane, Lodi, CA 95242. Kevin will be greatly missed. It wont be quite the same without him setting beside me to watch Jordan play basketball. He never got to see him test and receive his black belt. Or play football. I know he will be watching from above.

I was truly saddened when I got the news from good friend Ruth Kretzer-Clark that Kevin had passed away! Kevin, Rick Engelhardt and myself all grew up on South Pleasant Avenue and I have so many fond memories of all of us playing together, building a tree house in Ricks backyard, hide & seek at the Saint Paul's Church, creating a whirlpool in that odd pool at Ricks house, getting inside a large cardboard barrel and rolling down the driveway... wow the list goes on and on. Kevin will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him! My sincere condolences to his loved ones!

I'm so sorry to see that Kevin has been called home so early, but I'm not surprised that God needed him for something that just couldn't wait. Kevin's brother Jeff and I were inseperable growing up in the 'old neighborhood' and am saddened to see that such a wonderful family as the Rasmussens must endure this loss. Rest in peace Kevin, you will be missed.
