We were very sadden by the news of Luther's passing. We both have known Luther and his family for more than 30 years. My wife and I both worked with Luther in the packing shed on Lockeford St. and Main St. we always enjoyed his humor, his kidding around, his knowledge of the packing business. I use to love watching Luther negotiate with the cherry vendors going back and fourth on the price. And always respecting the people he dealt with, no matter which walk of life they came from. My wife and I both loved the stories he told of his life, his youth, his experience's, and the way he has taught people to respect one another. We feel very fortunate that we had just seen Luther, his wife, Terrie with her husband and boys on Thanksgiving Day at Jackson Rancheria, where we enjoyed sitting across from them. Luther will always be remembered in our hearts and memories as we go down lives path. We feel very fortunate that Luther touched our lives. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family.

Working at Christensen's, I came to know Luther as the gentlemen who always came in with a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was a very interesting person, truly one of a kind. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time of loss.

I have known Luther since my children were infants from Stockton Buddhist Temple. He was always very kind to me. When my children started all playing basketball I would always see him around. He would offer B-Ball advise for my son and daughters or we would have random conversations during practice or at the games. He was always a joy to be around. He was my Church and Basketball icon and I will sadly miss him. My condolences to the Shimozaki and Yamanaka families.

I knew Luther for a few years when I workws in Lodi, he was a positive man whom I admired quite a bit. Always with a smile and joke, he uplifted me on many occasions. And I remember that he could ALWAYS out eat me, even though I outweighed him by 75 lbs! he will be missed.

My name is Margie and I have known Luther since I started working at M&R April of 2009. Although I have only known Luther for less than a year, I feel like I have known him forever. Every morning Luther would come in the office around 9am and we would talk for hours about anything and everything. We would talk about how he would always wear the same blue hat, yet he said he had hundreds at home. He would tell me stories of his youth and about his children. He would also talk about his infamous coin collection and his beloved wife. He always had a different perspective on life, which I'm sure every one already knows. Luther would always tell me how proud he was of his grand children; especially the one that was taking advanced math for his age. Sometimes when he came in he would try to teach me Japanese words or ask me riddles. Luther made my mornings at M&R very pleasant and I will miss him dearly. He was a GREAT man with honest morals and principles; I feel privileged to have known Luther. I wish I could have attended the service, but I will be out of the country on that day. I offer all of my condolences for the loss of a wonderful and vibrant man, but we all know he is in a better place and in peace. Rest in Peace Luther, I will miss you dearly.

Much Love,
Margie Angel Fonseca Vega
