Mark Lange Obituary

Mark Howard Lange, 66, passed away on October 29th at his home in Lodi, California. Mark was known as the consummate Car Guy, having owned and operated several classic and vintage car sales operations. He was born November 15th 1954 in Huntington Park, California and graduated from Bell High School in 1972. Shortly thereafter he discovered and pursued his passion for automobiles. Mark grew up with and knew many of the original architects that created the classic car market, having partnered with several of them over his 40 year tenure. He lived in Montecito, California for a number of years before moving to Lodi. In 2000 he established Vintage Reserve Garage, through which he bought and sold hundreds of rare and classic cars and motorcycles. He participated in countless car events, including showing a 1930 Duesenberg at the Pebble Beach Concours. He also drove vintage race cars at several racetracks around the country. He participated with friends from Lodi in the 24 d'Lemons races for unique and "barely-running" junkers. Mark had a "let's do it" spirit and his clients felt that energy in their transactions.
He was a generous man who supported countless regional causes and was always there to lend a hand. Mark was deeply involved in the Lodi community, participating in many charitable events. He was an avid golfer and chef. He was a member of Woodbridge Golf and Country Club and a member of the Fire House Gang, a monthly lunch group established in Stockton some 30-years ago. Mark was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Stockton. His friends will remember his strong voice, quick wit, and encyclopedic knowledge of automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Rhoda Lange and his sister, Karen. He is survived by his niece, Sarah Berson and nephew, Kyle Berson.
Donations can be made in his name to Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation, www.lmhfoundation.org. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

I only just met him a little more than a month before he passed. He was very helpful and supportive to me through a difficult time even though we are only distantly related. He is missed.

I knew Mark since he came to Lodi, and I started doing fabrication and rejuvination work on several cars and projects for him. We became good friends. We found out both our parents were German and Norwegian, and all came from North Dakota. We will meet again someday on the other side, my friend, Doak Bentz.

We were friends for 47 years and experienced my adventures. Being car guys was just one of them. I always considered you my family. I love you and will miss you terribly.

Hey brother Mark, we miss you big time. Thanks for the great stories and for the introductions to your motor-head friends. I drive by Vintage Reserve Garage every day and am reminded of the all the adventures we went on. It won't be the same without you.
