Mary Chacko

1935 - 2024

Mary Kutty Chacko of Lodi, California passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024. Mary was born in Kerala, India on February 24, 1935 to Chona and Aleyamma Mathew. The second of three children, she was happily married to Abraham Chacko for more than 50 years. She and Abraham immigrated to the US in 1968.
Mary attended the University of Kentucky where she obtained a Batchelor's Degree in Nursing and a Master's Degree in Biology. She worked for a short time as a public health nurse in Appalachia and later, as a staff nurse and Diabetic Educator for the Humana Health systems.
Post retirement, Mary travelled the world and served as a volunteer missionary professor at Solusi University in Bulawao, Zambia, Africa. She was treasured by her students and colleagues.
Mary was an accomplished gardner, an avid painter, seamstress and quilt maker. A charming hostess, she enjoyed entertaining guests in her home. She attended the Fairmont Adventist Church where she served as an elder and taught one of the largest Sabbath Schools in the church.
Mary is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Danny and Delores Chacko, Hannah Thomas and David and Janna Chacko. She has 2 grandchildren, Matthew Chacko and Alexandra Chacko-Stacey.
A Celebration of Life service and reception are planned for Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the Fairmont Adventist Church, 730 South Fairmont Ave, Lodi, Ca. The public is invited to attend.
The family requests a gift donation to Adventist World Radio in lieu of flowers.
