Matilde Gauna Obituary

Matilde Salazar Gauna, 78, of Lodi entered into eternal life on August 22, 2018.
Matilde was born on March 14, 1940 in Nuevo León, Mexico to Benjamin Salazar and Juana Ocañas De Salazar.
Matilde married her husband Alvaro Gauna on September 2, 1957 in Nuevo León, Mexico.
They lived in Hda Ramirez, NL Mexico and were proud parents of 15 children.
In June of 1979 Matilde, her husband and their children moved to Acampo California. She and her husband settled in to make Lodi their permanent home in 1980.
Matilde worked hard as a sorter for Pacific Coast Producers for 20 years before retiring. She was also, a Member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
She loved her children dearly and taught them to always greet people with a smile and respect. She was caring and would lend anyone a helping hand. Matilde enjoyed cooking for all of her children and always made sure there was delicious food on the table. She made the best homemade flour tortillas and amazing sweet tortillas. She had a great sense of humor. She loved gardening, singing and dancing. Most of all, Matilde loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom will now cherish her memory forever.
She is survived by her husband, Alvaro Gauna of Lodi. Her Children, Laura Hernandez (Juan) of Marysville CA. , Victoriano Gauna of Mexico, Amparo Ochoa (Roberto) of Lodi, Edelmiro Gauna of Mexico, Ma. Antonia Gauna (Javier) of Lodi, Reyes Gauna (Wendy) of Lodi , Mario Gauna (Ma. Dolores) of Texas, Matilde Ramirez of Lodi, Graciela Huerta (Benjamin) of Lodi, Susana Gauna of Lodi, Adrian Gauna (Vanessa) of Lodi; Her Siblings, Irene S. Vazquez (Juan) of Cornelius Oregon, Guillermo Salazar of McAllen Texas, Pilar Salazar of McAllen Texas; 31 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Salazar; her mother, Juana Ocañas de Salazar; two sons Alvaro Gauna Jr., Margarito Gauna, two daughters, Margarita Gauna, Olga Lopez; two grandsons, Victor Gauna Jr., Isaac Gauna; one granddaughter, Marlena Ochoa, one Great-Granddaughter Ariana Garcia; Two sisters, Ma. De Los Angeles Salazar, Manuelita S. Meza and two bothers, Pedro Salazar and Manuel Salazar.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 28, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Lodi funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church with committal to follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. A guest book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com where memories can be shared.
