Norma Burlington Obituary

Norma Burlington passed away October 17, 2023. She was born December 1, 1928 in San Diego County to Faye Kester Livingston and Ronald Livingston. She graduated from Stockton High and Stockton Jr. College. She is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Bruce Burlington, and her sister Joyce Gerstenberger of Danville.
Norma will be remembered for her sense of style and passion for design. She was an avid bridge and tennis player and dedicated her time on the boards of the Children's Home of Stockton and Hospice of San Joaquin and a member of Omega Nu. Norma is survived by her children, Tom Burlington (Julia) and Jan Chandler (Mark) of Lodi, and David Burlington (Barbara) of San Francisco. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Anne Nakagawa (Kenji), Beth Calder (Mark), Grace Burlington, Laura Brown (Shawn) and Dave Chandler (Holly) and three great grandchildren, Mikael Tiku, Taylor and Johnny Calder.
Services are private. Donations may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton 95204 or charity of your choice.

Bruce and Norma were absolutely the sweetest couple in our neighborhood, regular walkers, always stopped to say hello if we were outside, and never missed the opportunity to share a dog treat with Missy. Their friendship meant so much to us. One of God's many blessings.

Norma and Bruce (I know Norma just passed with Bruce preceding her, but it is hard to think of one without the other) were just two of the nicest people. Norma never forgot my name, even though it has been almost 60 years since I was at Saint Anne's school with her kids and I used to frequently see Bruce at Oddfellows with Tom where I often sat with them to eat dinner. But besides being wonderful people, they were local fixtures, and not just in the neighborhood, but in the entire town. From my perspective, they were a part of "Old Lodi"; now an almost extinct group that defined what Lodi was and made Lodi what it still is-a great place to live. Their passing was not only a loss to their family, but a loss to Lodi itself. My condolences to the Burlington family.
