Ray Litchfield Obituary

On the evening of May 10, 2015 Ray passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at the South Sacramento Kaiser Hospital.
Ray Litchfield was born in Lodi, California to Walter & Margret Litchfield on January 3, 1930. He was the youngest of seven children. Ray was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone and knew no strangers. Everyone was family to Ray.
He began his family in Galt, CA with Betty Ray Adams where they had four children and attended the Galt SDA church before moving their family to Canada in 1962 where they began cattle ranching. In 1972 the family returned to California where they began caring for special needs adults in their home while traveling from Acampo, CA to Horse Fly, British Columbia, Canada each year.
Simple things such as singing with family and friends while playing his violin on Sabbath evening after family worship filled his heart with joy. Singing with friends in the convalescent homes was also an enjoyable Sabbath afternoon with his Lockeford SDA church family.
He is survived by his wife Betty Litchfield, children Joanne Walter (Irven), Donald Litchfield (Melissa), Carolyn Cooper (Paul) and Doyle Litchfield. Grand-children Cindi Morris (Ken), Leslie Foster (Brian), Carrie Walter, Anastacia Cabiri, Natasha Litchfield and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held May 23, 2015 at 4 pm at the Lockeford SDA Church, 19900 N. Elliott Road, Lockeford, CA 95237. There will be a private graveside service for the family.

To Betty, Joanne, Donald, Carolyn and Doyle,
I let Mom know of Ray's passing and she asked me to let you all know that she was grateful that we had gotten to see some of you, and particularly Ray, a few years back.
Our memories of him and your family - Beaver Valley days - are a bushel full! The times we sat out in our yard on Sabbath afternoon with the organ or accordion, John Warkentin's steel guitar, the Litchfield's on guitars, banjos and fiddles - such wonderful memories. Also staying out at your place, sleeping in the barn, "petting cows", chasing ram's, boating & skiing, motorcycle races. So fortunate to have had such wonderful times with such wonderful people. You all have impacted our lives tremendously. Thank you.

So sad to hear about Ray's passing. There has always been a special place for him in my heart and always will be. He was one of those people (like my Dad) I just kind of expected to live on and on. Grateful for many wonderful memories and look forward to the day when we will see him again.
