Roy Macomber Obituary

Roy Clifford Macomber was born on October 16, 1927, in Saginaw Michigan, to Oliver and Mary Macomber. He graduated from Adelphian Academy, and attended Emmanuel Missionary College, now Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, Michigan. During the Korean War, he served as a medic in military hospital. He married Adelaide Joyce Youker on May 27, 1949, and they both attended Walla Walla College, now Walla Walla University, in College Place, Washington, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business.
Roy spent about a year working as a meter reader after graduating from college before becoming employed by Richfield Oil Company in the credit department. He rose rapidly in the company, and was in demand for his expertise in collecting debts, and solving credit problems with distributors. The company paid for a course of study at Stanford University that included writing a thesis. He retired from Atlantic Richfield Company, the successor to Richfield Oil, in 1980, and went to work for Toms Sierra Company, a petroleum distributor, as an account executive. He retired from there in 1992.
Roy and Adelaide had two sons and a daughter, and six grandchildren. He passed away on July 27, 2014, in Lodi, from complications after a fall. His sisters and two brothers are still living.
Roy had a strong religious faith, and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. He now awaits the resurrection morning, when Jesus comes to awaken those that sleep in the dust of the earth.

I have fond memories of my Uncle Roy when he and Aunt Addie would come to visit. I especially remember a time we went blueberry picking and I think both of us ate a good share. He couldn't believe how big the blueberries in Michigan were. His smile was contagious. Love you all so very much. Thoughts and prayers continue.

Roy was a great and wonderful, caring brother. As the eldest brother of our family of eight, he is remembered by calling us at Christmas every year since he couldn't be here in Michigan. Our thoughts and prayers go out for all the family and blessings to Addie.

Dear Addie and family, what a special blessing Roy was in our lives. May the Lord to whom he was so dedicated continue to sustain each of you in your loss and grief until that resurrection morn. Love, Wayne and Vonnie Young
