ROBERT WRIGHT
WINSTON-SALEM, NC. — Robert L. Wright died at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC on May 27, 2017 after a ten-year battle with Alzheimer's.
Bob was born on June 25, 1927 in Logan, WV. His parents were Iva White Wright and Loynal Wright.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Wright.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Jeanne "Mickey" Wright, his daughter Sandra Wright and his son-in-law Kevin Richardson of Winston-Salem, NC. Three grandsons, Robert Stephen Wright, Charles Timothy Wright and Christopher Neal Wright of Dallas, TX and four great-grandchildren.
Bob was a 1944 graduate of Logan High School and attended Bowling Green Business University, Bowling Green, KY. After college, he served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a Certified Public Accountant in his own practice in Logan, WV. He prided himself on never having lost a case to the Internal Revenue Service and argued diligently for a sixty-five-cent refund for one of his clients. He was a member of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Logan and was active in the men's fellowship. Bob served on the Logan Water Board for many years and served as Mayor of Logan, WV from December 1980 until May 1983. He was commissioner for the WV Fast-Pitch Softball League in the 1960's, helping to organize regional and state tournaments. He was an accomplished golfer, avid fisherman and traveler. In later years, he enjoyed sailing with his wife on their boat in Florida. Although the disease robbed his memories he still loved Godiva and Hershey chocolate. We will celebrate Bob's life on his birthday in June. He will wait for Mickey to join him and travel to the Outer Banks to continue their journey together. The family would appreciate any donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Bob's memory.

So saddened by the death of your loved one. Bob,Charles Carpenter,Nick Hayes and Larry Cook were a foursome at golf for many years in the early 70's. I will never forget what a great golfer he was, could absolutely slay a long drive. He taught me many tricks in golfing. Was a kind, quite and generous person. I will miss him. Larry T. Cook

As I lay here and think of you the many memories of our trips to Peters Town to trout fish. Wake up to you singing " Long legged woman and Oreo Cookies". Papaw we lost touch as I grew older. I regret that tonight. I Love you and you will be missed. Please say hi to Dad. You two go fishing now and I will see you soon.
