CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Velma Lou Goodson Stech Sampselle, 75, went home to be with the Lord Thurs., April 10, 2014 at 1:15 p.m. at Hubbard Hospice House of Charleston surrounded by her loving family.
Lou was born in Logan February 4, 1939. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Church of the Brethren in Florida and also attended the Shamrock Freewill Baptist Church of Shamrock. She held residence in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Sarasota, Fla., before moving back to Chapmanville. She retired after 26 years of service as a CNA in Sarasota, working in a nursing home. She enjoyed working with the elderly. She also loved being with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Our best memory of Lou was her love for the Lord and her giving heart.
Lou was preceded in death by her first husband, Ned Stech; her second husband, Harry Columbus Sampselle; one son, Brandon Stech; her dad and mom, Lloyd Goodson and Verda Goodson Burger; a step-dad, Rev. David Burger; one sister, Velva Gay Goodson, and one brother, Kenneth Goodson.
Survivors include two sons, David Stech of Wapakoneta, and Todd (Stacy) Stech of Chapmanville; four grandchildren, Mason Tyler and Katey Stech of Chapmanville, and Emily Stech and Kelsie Poeppelmeier of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Ed (Phyllis) Goodson of Lima, Ohio, and Larry (Retha) Goodson of Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters, Joyce McDonald and Brenda (Bill) Baker, both of Wapakoneta.
At Velma Lou's request, a private service was held at the Highland Memory Gardens for her dearly beloved family and close friends. The service was officiated by Rev. Orville Ellis from the Shamrock Freewill Baptist Church.
We would like to extend a special thanks to the Hubbard Hospice House doctors and nurses that gave her great care; also, a great big shout out to her special cancer doctor, Dr. Ahmed and his staff. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
