AMELIA ECKWERTH Obituary

Amelia A. Eckwerth passed away peacefully on January 28, 2007. Amelia was born October 31, 1913 to Dominick and Cecelia Romania Acocella in Mt. Vernon. She attended Mt. Vernon Schools and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1932. She was employed by the Mt. Vernon Board of Education until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Educational Secretaries of Mt. Vernon, the CSEA "" Local 0921 and the New York State Association of Educational Secretaries. In 1941, she married Bernard Eckwerth who predeceased her in 1984. She is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife Nina of Mahopac and William and his wife Toni Ann of Beacon. Her beloved granddaughters Tina Marie Eckwerth, Jennifer Eckwerth, Dawn Sarlo and her husband Joseph of Mahopac, Michele Eckwerth and Christine Eckwerth of Schenectady, Katie Formisano of Beacon. She had one great-granddaughter Marianna Eckwerth of Mahopac. Her niece Patricia Wissner and husband Leonard of California, one nephew Richard Acocella of Texas and great nephews RJ, Craig and Keith Winkler of California. She was predeceased by her sister Sarah Acocella, Jeanette Acocella, Louise Courtney and a brother Louis Acocella. Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
