Andrew Zweig Obituary

Zweig, Andrew Lyle

Andrew Lyle Zweig, of West Nyack NY, passed away on Sunday August 13, 2017 following a long battle with cancer. Andrew was the son of the late Rubin Zweig of Yonkers NY and late Bernese (Bunny) Terranova. He was predeceased by his beloved brother, Stefan. He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Wendy, their daughter Stephanie her husband Kevin, a son Jason and future daughter in law Tara Specter, one grandson four nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.

He was born in the Bronx, attended East Ramapo schools, and graduated from North Rockland High School. He competed in both hockey and football both of which were among the many that he would coach later in life. He achieved a degree in education from SUNY Brockport and worked summers at Deer Mountain Day Camp where he met the love of his life. As they established their family, he earned a masters degree and had successful careers with BOCES, Apple Computer, Texas Instruments, and JAMF Software.

Andrew was a tremendous lover of music especially the Grateful Dead. He was a voracious reader and perpetual student of life. His complete devotion for family was unsurpassed. He constantly molded his family with a strong and caring hand. He was the rock and support to a large extended family as well. Andrew gently cared for sick and dying family members throughout his life. He made every family event memorable with special trips to explore the nation's parks, countries overseas, and with close friends in Cape Cod.

Life is a circle, a circle of love.

Zweig family,
Tonight I am sending many hugs to your entire family from Brooklyn. I am so sorry for any of you to have to go through such a difficult loss of someone so loved by both family and friends.

I have been thinking all day of many memories I have when I visited Jason, and the weekends I spent with your entire family. Each visit I felt I was treated like family, and each of you showed me such warmth and hospitality. I will never forget during Ithaca College 2011 graduation ceremony, when I looked over and spotted your family scampering with my Mom to get photos of us from over the fence.
Having known Jason since 2007, I can truly say that I have always seen so much of his Dad in the way he carries himself, in his overall personality and I am certain that the respect and love he has always showed towards his Dad will remain.
Love to your family, and until I can give an in-person hug, I can say without question Mr.Zweig is proud and grateful to watch over each of you, as your already close-knit family grows even closer during this difficult time.

Love,
Julie k.

I was lucky enough to work with Andy for almost three years. He had a talent for getting to the heart of any work related issue, and he was as happy for his coworkers successes as for his own. What I will think of above all was his love of and pride in his family. My sincere condolences to those he leaves behind.

I am stunned! I just said to my wife, Stephanie, a couple of days ago that I hadn't spoken to Andy in awhile and I needed to call him. Andy was extraordinarily special. He was bright, talented, caring, and an unbelievably supportive friend. Whenever I sought his help, he was always there. He was patient, always willing to listen, and he truly understood people. He was a mensch, and a righteous man. He was truly unique and cannot be replaced. We wish his family our most heartfelt condolences. He will be sorely missed. With our deepest sadness and our highest regard, Stephanie and Neil Cooperman
