George Bjerklie Obituary

George S. Bjerklie George S. Bjerklie, 81, a long time resident of Marin County, died on the evening of June 20th, 2007 at home in Meredith, New Hampshire, following a sudden illness. He was born in Gilby, ND, on September 27th, 1925, and served in the Navy as a medic during World War II. After graduating from the University of North Dakota and the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, he settled in San Francisco in 1950. He retired from Wells Fargo Bank in 1983 after a 28-year career as a branch and trust auditor. He lived in Corte Madera, Mill Valley and San Rafael for 29 years prior to moving to New Hampshire in 1984 with his wife Betty, whom he married in 1980. While he lived in Mill Valley, George was active in Little League and at Peace Lutheran Church. His children and two of his grandchildren graduated from Tamalpais High School. George was an ardent baseball and hockey fan and a crossword puzzle and sudoku aficionado. He enjoyed gardening, golf, coin collecting, doing home repairs and living on Lake Waukewan, NH. He loved western movies, traditional jazz, small towns and fine wine. He was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers Peter and Rodney, and his first wife Byrdella. He is survived by his wife Betty, his son Steven of Franconia, NH, his daughter Jane Barry of Holderness, NH, his stepchildren Rick and Carrie Fagerstrom of Portland, Ore., Nancy Harman of San Diego, Calif., Eric Fagerstrom of Manchester, NH, Ann Perry of Deltaville, VA, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret of Concord, NH, and Anne of Davenport, IA, and brothers John of Upper St. Clair, PA and James of Snohomish, Washington. Donations may be made to White Mountain Youth Hockey, P.O. Box 121, Plymouth, NH 02364.
