BERNARD BREWER Obituary

Bernard H. "Chip"� Brewer Sr. of North Salem, NY died Saturday May 30, 2009 in Purdy's, NY, at the age of 88. Mr. Brewer was born June 7, 1920 in Carmel, NY, son of the late Bernard E. and Addie (Holmes) Brewer. He graduated from Brewster High School then married Dorothy Minerley in Alabama in December of 1942. His wife Dorothy predeceased him in 1979. Mr. Brewer served with the Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He worked at a variety of lumber companies including Carmel Lumber Co. before retiring from Swackhammer Lumber Co. in White Plains. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in North Salem, the North Salem Lions Club, the North Salem Historical Society a trustee of the Southeast Museum and attended the Brewster VFW Post 672. Mr. Brewer is survived by his longtime friend Joan Van Scoy of North Salem, a son Bernard H. "Buster"� Brewer of Poughkeepsie, NY, two daughters Janelle Romano of Skaneateles, NY and Rebecca Klein of Ghent, NY, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster at 11 AM. Internment will be private. The wake will be held Mon. June 1 at Beecher Funeral, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY from 4-8 PM. Contributions in his memory may be made to the North Salem Lions Club or St. James Episcopal Church.
