Brian McConnell Obituary

McConnell, Brian J.

Brian McConnell passed away on August 7, 2014. He was born on September 23, 1986, in Mount Kisco, New York to Joseph and Mary 'Dede' McConnell and was raised in Armonk, New York.

From his earliest days, Brian displayed an uncanny aptitude for arts and entertainment—constantly performing, whether on the big stage or at home for his family and friends. He was a gifted ballet dancer, performing a principal role in The Nutcracker as a young child. He was also a singer, self-taught pianist, beautiful writer, and theatrical prodigy.

As Brian grew older, his artistic sensibilities led him to an ever-evolving search for a higher sense of truth, beauty, and purpose. His personal journey of self-discovery combined with his ability to make people laugh ripened into an instinctive gift for forming deep-rooted relationships with those he came in contact with.

Brian had a magnetic and nurturing presence. People and animals were drawn to his genuine, compassionate, and kind nature. His strong spiritual and soulful character and his great sense of empathy inspired others along their own journeys.

He relished in the natural beauty of the earth and beyond. He lived his life with contagious passion and, in his wake, lives a glow of indelible light and love.

Brian is survived by his father, Joseph McConnell and Denise Johnston, his brother Christopher McConnell, and his sister Catherine 'Casey' McConnell. He is also survived by his aunt Keiren Farquhar, his uncle James and aunt Mary Pat McConnell, his aunt Kathy and uncle John Curry, his uncle Roger Merritt, and several other aunts, uncles, and numerous first cousins that were incredibly close with Brian. He is predeceased by his mother, Mary 'Dede' McConnell, his maternal and paternal grandparents, his aunt Vera Merritt, and his uncle and godfather, Hal Farquhar.

Visiting hours will be held at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home at 262 East Main Street, Mount Kisco, New York on Sunday, August 10 from 4 to 8pm. A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Armonk, New York on Monday, August 11 at 10am, followed by a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Brian's honor to an animal or children's charity of your choice.

Brian,

You are and will always be the most amazing soul. We are all lucky to have met you and had the true privilege of having you in our lives. Your energy and presence would illuminate any room you were in and has touched us all in ways we will never forget. I will miss your infatuating sense of humor and your ability to strengthen and heal others around you through as little as a smile.

Your selfless nature is a quality that little people in this world posses. I truly believe you were an angel living on earth. I hope you are at peace and I will cherish every moment we had.
