William S. Cohen, 78, of Sharon, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in his home.
Mr. Cohen was born on August 15, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Morris and Yetta (Hirschman) Cohen. He was raised and educated in Youngstown, OH, and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Youngstown State University.
For nearly 35 years, he and his father owned and operated the former Castle Furniture in downtown Sharon. Bill also operated William Cohen Accounting Services in the basement of his home, retiring in 2022.
He married the former Patricia Dignan on September 12, 1981; she survives at home.
Bill was a member of Temple El Emeth, Youngstown, OH.
He enjoyed golfing and was an avid bowler, bowling in leagues and many tournaments throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by a sister, Susan Immerman and her husband, Bob, of Boca Raton, Fl; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Dzurinda and her husband, Richard, of Sharon, and Sandra Hoagland and her husband, Dennis, of Boynton Beach, FL; a niece, Jessica Berman and her husband, Chris, of Armonk, NY; a nephew, Brian Hoagland, of Fort Myers, FL; and a great-nephew and three great-nieces, Brianna and Dylan Hoagland, and Amelia and Reese Berman.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Dignan.
Bill’s wife, Patty, would like to extend a sincere appreciation to all those who helped her in this difficult time, especially her sister-in-law, Susan.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, at www.stjude.org
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday (03/23/2026) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon. A procession to Hillcrest Memorial Park will immediately follow, where an interment service will be held at the graveside, officiated by Rabbi Courtney Berman.
Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
