CATHERINE "KATIE" PICA

Catherine "Katie" Pica, of Toms River, NJ, formerly of Haverstraw, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the age of 88. The daughter of Enrico and Flora Angelozzi, she was born on April 2, 1919 in Haverstraw, NY. A lifelong resident of Haverstraw, Katie was the widow of Albert A. Pica, who passed away in 2005. Catherine attended St. Peter's Elementary School and Haverstraw High School. She met and married her beloved "Honey" Pica on October 24, 1942. Anyone who knew Katie knew of her utmost devotion to her family throughout her life. Her greatest pleasures were spent in the company of her children, and later in life, her grandchildren. A special joy came with the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Amanda Grace, in 2003. During the 1970s, Katie enjoyed working at Lichter's Dress Shop in Haverstraw, where many will remember her constant smiles and outgoing personality. Katie is survived by her three children: Mary Ann Blitzer and her husband, Andrew of Suffern, Albert H. Pica and his wife, Donna of Garnerville, and Robert J. Pica and his life-partner, John Bartholomew of Morristown, NJ. Catherine is also survived by four grandchildren: Loren Levinson, David Blitzer, Nicole Pica, and Gina Pica, and her darling great-granddaughter, Amanda Levinson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hudson Valley/Rockland/ Westchester, NY Chapter, PO Box 107, Poughkeepsie, NY 12602-0107. Viewing hours will be held at George M. Holt Funeral Home, Inc., Haverstraw, NY on Saturday 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Catholic Mass will be held at St. Peter's Church on Broadway in Haverstraw on Monday at 10 AM, followed by burial at St. Peter's Cemetery in Haverstraw. GEORGE M.
