Christopher DeMaio Obituary
Christopher Paul DeMaio, a resident of Nanuet, NY for 33 years. Passed away suddenly on October 8, 2007, he was 62 years old. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet. Chris was born on July 13, 1945 to Tessie and Angelo DeMaio in New York City. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the Army. Upon returning home he married the love of his life, Maria Quartarone on August 3, 1968. They started a family and had four children that he dedicated his life to. That love blossomed when he was with his five grandchildren who were the apples of his eye. He was proud to be called Pop - Pop and never took it for granted. He looked forward to the traditional Italian Sunday Dinner with his entire family and there was always room at the table for anyone who stopped by. He was a true Yankee and Giants fan and passed his love of sport to his children and grandchildren. His love of sports and children brought him to become involved for many years with the West Nyack Little League. He proudly served as a board of Director, Coach and volunteered wherever he was needed. He was employed by Liz Claiborne for almost 20 years as director of payroll. Chris is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Maria (Quartarone). He is also survived by his two daughters Anna-Maria (Mia) Orser and her husband Scot of Congers. His daughter Christine Krasny and husband Nick of Congers. His sons Christopher of Washington, DC and Michael of Nanuet. His precious grandchildren, Nicholas, Marissa, Scot, Joseph and Daniella. He is also survived by his father in law Benny of the Bronx, NY. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Angelo and Tessie. He is also pre-deceased by his beloved mother-in-law Josephine Quartarone. The family will be present to receive friends and family on Friday October 12th from 4-9 pm at Higgins Funeral home in New City, NY. A funeral mass will be held at our Lady of Grace RC Church (Bronx, NY) on Saturday October 13th at 10 am. This church holds the happy memories starting with his marriage and the baptism of his children and grandchildren. Following the mass, he will be laid to rest at Ferncliff Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations in Chris name to the Fort Lauderdale fire dept, Autism Speaks or a charity of your choice. He lived his life to the fullest and did it his way.
