DEBORAH PARTRIDGE Obituary

Deborah Ann Partridge, award-winning artist and long-time educator, passed on August 9, 2010, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was 62 years old. Deborah was born April 11, 1948, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York, to lifelong Rockland residents, Clinton T. and Helen V. Partridge. Ms. Partridge graduated from Ladycliff College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. She earned a Master's degree in Studio Art at The College of New Rochelle. As an educator, Deborah taught at Suffern High School from 1987-2010 and served as Art Coordinator for grades K-12 and Art Department Chairperson for grades K-12. Early in her teaching career, Deborah worked at the Rockland Center for The Arts and the Archdiocese of New York. An abstract expressionist painter, Deborah studied under famed artists Julio Larraz and Richard Pousette-Dart. In 1989, she won best in show at the Art Students' League in Manhattan. Her work has been widely exhibited from New York City to Los Angeles, California. She has been an active member and exhibitor at The Flywheel Gallery in Piermont, NY. The passion Ms. Partridge had for creating art was matched by the joy she had in sharing her knowledge with her students. A lifelong advocate for the arts, Deborah believed that a strong foundation in art is essential to a well-rounded education. She took great pride in working with students who struggled with the traditional curriculum but blossomed in the art room. Her love of art was exceeded only by her love for her family and friends. Deborah Ann Partridge is survived by her son, Sean Donnellan and his wife Candice Mann; her beloved Bruce MacDonnell; two brothers, Clinton Partridge and Thomas Partridge and his wife Nivida; a sister Susan Partridge Battler and her husband John; two nieces Courtney Wiand and Ellie Battler; a nephew Chip Wiand, and a great-nephew, Cameron Petronio. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Higgins Funeral Home in New City. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 A.M. at St. Anthony's Shrine Church in Nanuet with burial to follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations for "The Deborah Partridge Scholarship Fund." Donations should be made to "Pershing LLC FBO Suffern High School Alumni." Please write, "Deborah Partridge Scholarship" in the memo and mail to: Suffern High School, 49 Viola Road, Suffern, NY 10901. MICHAEL J.
