Deborah Seidlitz-Healy Obituary

Seidlitz-Healy, Deborah

Pound Ridge resident Deborah Healy-Seidlitz died on Friday, October 19. She was born on July 31, 1963, in Monmouth, N.J., to Donald Healy and Rhonda Lederman. Deborah always showed kindness and concern for others. For the past 20 years, she worked as a licensed massage therapist. She recently returned to school, attending Fordham University's Graduate School of Social Service. Earlier this year, she graduated and received her LMSW and was very excited about her new career. Deborah will be remembered as loving, caring, nurturing, and generous. She was a true inspiration to all. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved unconditionally. She appreciated nature and all its beauty. She excelled at gardening, cooking, art, and interior decorating. Deborah was very involved in local charity work and was always helping others. She once described herself as a "perpetual student of life." Deborah was also a true animal lover and leaves behind her treasured pets Remy and Finian.

Deborah is survived by her beloved family: husband, Richard Seidlitz, daughter, Hannah Seidlitz, son, Andrew Seidlitz, of Pound Ridge, parents, Donald Healy, of North Salem, and Rhonda Lederman, of Pompano Beach, Florida, and sisters, Karen Haber, of Yorktown Heights, and Melissa Alpern, of Golden's Bridge. She is also survived by her extended family and large community of friends. Everyone who knew Deborah will miss her more than can be imagined.

A memorial service will be held for friends and family to celebrate Deborah's life on Wednesday, October 24, at 11 a.m. at The Meadow at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Route 35 and 121 South in Cross River. I have a poem that I will share just a bit of. I'll lend you for a little time, a child of mine. For you to love while she lives, and mourn when she is dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three. But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me ?"We'll shelter her with tenderness, we'll love her while we may; And for the happiness we've known, will ever grateful stay. But shall the angels call for her much sooner than we planned? We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand."

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

We were both honored and thankful to have been selected as the place for family and friends to celebrate the life and passion of Deborah. She and I often spoke about something she had seen on her daily walks through the Reservation, me from an ecologist's insight, her's from a position of genuine interest and curiosity. Her's was always a visit couched in sincerity and the need to understand her world better. To her family...you are ALWAYS welcome to come to the Resrvation to reflect and heal. I will miss our conversations, Deborah. May you find the answers to all your questions where your spirit now dwells, and somehow touch your family often from beyond. Be at peace for eternity. I hope we meet again. Peace.
