DON REYNOLDS Obituary

Don Potter Reynolds, a long time resident of Yonkers, NY, died on January 11, 2002 in Colarado Springs, CO. He was 86. Mr. Reynolds worked for The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in New York for 40 years before retiring in 1981 as Director of Policy Planning and Public Affairs. Mr. Reynolds was born Dec. 9, 1915, in Reading, MI to Gene and Fern Potter Reynolds. He was educated in Reading, MI and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1939, earning a Masters degree in Civil Engineering. On July 1, 1939, he married Martha Dorothea Lok at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Toledo, OH. Mr. Reynolds lived with his grandson and his family in Colarado Springs, CO for the past 2 years. Before that, he lived in Yonkers, NY, from 1942 to 2000, and in Toledo, OH & Reading, MI. Locally, he was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years. He was a volunteer at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, accumulating more than 3000 volunteer hours. He is survived by his grandchildren: Janet Reynolds of Charlestown, RI, Brian Reynolds of Colorado Springs, CO, and Craig Martin of Annapolis, MD: and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Martha in 1987, his son Bruce in 1988, and his daughter Susan in 2000. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, February 8 at 11:00 am at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tuckahoe, NY. Interment will follow the service at the church grounds. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Asbury Foundation, 167 Scarsdale Road, Tuckahoe, New York 10707.
