DOROTHY LAWLOR

Dorothy Lawlor (nee Ryan) of Yonkers died on Thursday August 14, 2008 at the age of 82. She was born on Sept 15, 1925 to Samuel and Catherine (Doyle) Ryan in the Bronx, N.Y. where she was raised and educated and graduated from Cathedral Girls High School. On September 7, 1946 she married William Lawlor in Holy Rosary Church in the Bronx; he died in 1988. Mrs. Lawlor was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and their church decorating group, and was a member of the Daily Prayer Group at the Christ the King Church. Dorothy enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City especially with both St. Michael's and St. Mary's Russian groups and her trips with Adventures For Rascals. She also enjoyed watching the Passionist Mass on Sundays and the mass from St. Patrick's Cathedral. She was an avid sports fan, especially with her Giants and Yankees. Dorothy is survived by her two loving children; Patricia Lawlor of Yonkers and John Lawlor (Carol) of Saugerties, NY and her two adored grandchildren Christine and John Jr. Also survived by sister-in-law Marian Lawlor, brother-in-law Thomas (Bobby) Lawlor and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her longtime friend, Sr. Hilda Stubna. She is also survived by Dorothy Ward Calise and her husband William. She was predeceased by three brothers; Bernard, Richard and Bro. Samuel A. Ryan C.F.C. Visiting Hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on both Saturday & Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
