Edward Donovan Obituary

Donovan, Edward J.

Edward J. Donovan, a resident of Valley Cottage, NY died on Sunday, he was 87 years old. Ed was born on January 14, 1925 in Norfolk, VA to John and Alice Donovan. Ed has been a resident of Valley Cottage, NY since 1957. He was a Police Officer with the NYPD for 27 years until his retirement in 1975. He then was employed by the US Postal Service working in the Valley Cottage, NY Post Office for 20 years, retiring in 1995. Ed was predeceased by his wife Gilda on March 15, 2012. He is survived by two sons Scott and Lynn Donovan of Hawaii and Matthew and Vivianne Donovan of Pearl River and a daughter Linda Donovan of Valley Cottage. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Matthew and Amanda Donovan of Pearl River, William Maxwell of Valley Cottage, and one great grandchild Jazmene Maxwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Paul's RC Church in Congers. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Rockland Lake, NY. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Edward's name to the NY Organ Donor Network at www.donatelifeny.org.
