EDWARD MONKS Obituary

Edward Monks of Peekskill, NY passed away on Friday August 10, 2007.Edward was born on December 31, 1924 in Tarrytown, NY to William and Jeanette (Jaymes) Monks. He was an Army Veteran who served proudly during WWII and was a German prisoner of war. He owned Edward Monks General Contractors Inc. and retired in 1987. Edward was an Associate member of the North Tarrytown Fire Department, a member of the North Tarrytown V.F.W. and an avid sports fan. He is survived by a son, Edward J. Monks and his wife Gail of Montrose, a daughter,Patricia Schembari and her husband Aldo of Putnam Valley, a brother Milt Monks of Tuscan, AZ, his former wife Meg Gallik who remained close friends after their divorce. Edward is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon Petrowsky and nine brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 12, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 170 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 13th at St. Patrick's Church in Verplanck, NY. Interment and Military Honors will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery also in Verplanck.
