EDWIN PISANI Obituary
Edwin B. Pisani, a longtime resident of Peekskill, died on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at his home. He was born in Northfield, VT on June 30, 1912, to Domenico and Appollonia Politi Pisani. Mr.Pisani served in the US Army during World War II in France, Belgium and Germany. On September 28, 1947 he married Catherine Ford at St. Christopher's Church, Buchanan. She survives. With his brothers Henry and Domenick, Mr. Pisani owned and operated Pisani Brothers, a men's clothing and family shoe store in Peekskill. He retired from the store in 1970. A communicant at Assumption Church, Peekskill, Mr. Pisani also served there as a lector and commentator for many years. He was a member of the Peekskill Hospital Board of Directors where he served as president and vice president and was instrumental in the development of hospital plans and fundraising. After the war, Mr. Pisani was instrumental in forming the Junior Chamber of Commerce where he also served as president. An alumnus of Peekskill High Class of 1930, Mr. Pisani was inducted into the high school's Hall of Honor in 1995. In an article in the Peekskill Herald at the time, Mr. Pisani was hailed as "a man of humility, kindness, patience and a sense of humor". He was quoted as saying "I have always enjoyed church and civic activiities" and added that he hoped the Hall of Honor "would inspire all PHS grads to reach for the stars". Along with his wife Catherine of the home address, Mr. Pisani is survived by children Edwin J. (Margaret Claire) of Croton, Thomas J., and Catherine E. Pisani, both of Peekskill, and two granddaughters, Genevieve and Emilia. He is predeceased by sisters Theresa Tucci, Candida Russo, Emilia and Elena Pisani, and brothers Ralph, Henry, and Domenick Pisani. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Assumption Church, Peekskill, at 10 AM on Monday, October 4, 2004, followed by interment, Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor, NY. Visiting at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home Peekskill, on Saturday, 7-9 PM, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
