EUGENE HUGHEY

Eugene Hughey, a longtime Irvington resident, died April 20, 2004. Mr. Hughey was born on October 9, 1921 in Hiram, MO, the son of John and Annette Whittenberg Hughey. Mr. Hughey served in the United States Army during WWII. He was also a member of the CCC and was an instructor of carpentry in the Army. Gene was the building inspector for the Village of Irvington for 15 years, retiring in 1999. For sixty years, he worked in the building and construction business. His worked spanned the construction of custom homes through several municipal projects, including schools and public parks. He is survived by two daughters: Barbara Hughey and Donna J. Hughes. Funeral Friday 1:00 pm, Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Visitation from 12:00 noon. Burial will be private.
