Frances Forese Obituary
Frances Forese of Thiells, New York, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2015, after a courageous battle with pneumonia, congestive heart disease, and incurable infections. She passed away at Hackensack University Medical Center, surrounded by her husband, children, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was born in Brooklyn on December 28, 1942 of a first-generation Italian father, Anthony Vitale, and a St. Louis born mother, Frieda Greenberg.
Baptized into adversity at age 14, she became the virtual mother of a family of eight brothers and sisters when her mother passed away at age 48 from a brain tumor. Grasping that role with great spirit and love, she continued a matriarchal presence in the greatly extended family as siblings' families grew over the years, with the addition of children and grandchildren.
Her friends and family, deeply saddened by this impactful loss, have attempted to brave through her passing, ever mindful of the irreplaceable support, spirit, and happiness she communicated to all who knew her.
All who knew her are saddened deeply by the brave battle she waged and lost, against great medical and physical odds.
Her family prays that God in time will begin to heal each of their hearts and that He wraps His loving arms around her, and all of them. With great sadness, respect, and love, we commend her to peace, and the Heaven she so richly deserves.
Family will receive visitors at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City on Tuesday, August 18 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral mass will take place at St. Anthony's Shrine Church on Wednesday, August 19 at 10am. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories, Paramus, NJ.
