FRANCIS MURTHA Obituary

Francis Michael Murtha, 90, of a resident of Katonah for 39 years, died on Friday, August 17 at the Northern Westchester Hospital, Mount Kisco, NY. He was born in Rome, NY on March 3, 1917 to Amos John and R. Loretta (Shanley) Murtha. Francis received his Bachelors of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA and a Masters of Education from Syracuse University. Francis was a Consultant for the Industrial Training Industry and he will be remembered for his wit, leadership and his ability to listen and offer encouragement to others. He is survived by his wife: Margaret Horan Murtha; his children: Michael Murtha, Stephen Murtha, and Loretta Angus: his grandchildren: Kristina Miller, Jessica Angus and Daniel Edward Kane and his great grandchildren: Alyssa Monet Miller and Mikasa Elise Miller. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's RC Church, Croton Falls, NY on Wednesday at 10:00 am. Burial will be on Thursday in St. Peter's Cemetery in Rome, NY at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to your favorite charity.
