When I first was hired to work for the editorial staff at Guideposts magazine, Fulton came to my desk, leaned over and said "om mani padme hum" (the jewel is in the lotus)....This is a Tibetan phrase/prayer. How did he know I studied Tibetain Buddhism? That's the kind of man he was. I will never forget him.

When I first came to work at Guideposts magazine as a secretary to Richard H. Schneider, editor, I was sitting at my little desk and the Editor in Chief, Fulton Oursler, came to my desk, leaned over and whispered "Om Mani Padme Hum"!! I was dumbfounded!! How did this editor of a Christian/Positive Thinking magazine (Guideposts) know this Tibetan Buddhist mantra?!!! He found out that I studied Tibetan Buddhism and wanted to make a connection and to help me to feel welcome. I never forgot that. He was a fine man with an expansive heart and mind. May his spirt continue to share light and wisdom.

I was so happy that Pascale managed to travel to Nyack to be with you and we are all thinking of you all today.
Eléonore, Clémence, Aurèle and I have very fond memories of our trip to Vermont, at Carroll's and Jim's, where we spent a delicious and unforgettable evening with Fulton, Noel and the rest of the family.
I then understood the ties that bind Pascale to the Oursler family...
I want to extend my heartfelt condolences.

when I first came to work at Guideposts magazine as assistant to Richard H. Schneider and where Fulton was the editor in chief, I was sitting at my desk and Fulton came by, leaned over my desk and said "Om Mani Padme Hum" (a Tibetan prayer; I was then studying Tibetan Buddhism)..How did he, a Christian editor know this?!! I was so shocked and didn't know what to say. But I was secretly pleased that this editor in chief took the time to look into who I was. I also learned over time that Fulton knew almost everything. He was a true renaissance man.
