GARY PETTIT Obituary

Gary P. Pettit of Croton-on-Hudson, NY passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Gary was born in the Bronx on March 12, 1946 to Thomas and Gladys (Summers) Pettit. He was a resident of Croton-on-Hudson for the last 58 years. Gary worked at IBM for 34 years and is mostly known for his tireless love for working with the youth in the community. He was active with the Croton Recreation Teen Program, Methodist Youth Fellowship, Superintendent and teacher of the Asbury United Methodist Church Sunday School, he was on the board of Directors to the Play and Learn Nursery School and touched the lives of many others in the community, both young and old. The moments that brought him the most joy were baby-sitting his two grandchildren the last six years. He is survived by his devoted wife Doreen, loving children Scott, Dana, Kim and her husband Billy Ryder and his precious grandchildren Billy and Lila. He is also survived by his sister-inlaw Denise Sadowsky. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand Street, Crotonon-Hudson, NY. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 28th at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 17 Old Post Road S., Croton-onHudson, NY. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery also in Croton. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Gary's name can be made to: Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund to be used towards the Youth Program.
