GEORGE GIDDIES Obituary

George A. Giddies of Stony Point entered into Eternal Peace at his home after a long illness. Born in West Haverstraw to Andrew G. and Louis Fortis Giddies. He was 75 years old. George was past Grand Knight of Council 581, Knights of Columbus, Haverstraw, NY and was bingo chairman. He was also past President of the Stony Point Senior Citizens and was currently serving as vice president. Since his retirement from Orange and Rockland Utilities, he served as a volunteer at Helen Hayes Hospital and as an usher in Immaculate Conception Church. George saw active service during the Korean war having served as a Medical Technician with the rank of Sergeant in the US Army. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Wanamaker Giddies at home, one daughter, Linda (Mark) Durney of Pearl River, NY, a son, George P. (Fiancee Donna Cirruzzo) of Stony Point, one sister, Dorothea Tesik, six grandchildren, Jaclyn, Mark and Christopher Durney and Mallory, George A. and Deane Giddies; two brothers in law, John and Edgar Wanamaker and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by all the lives he touched. Friends may call at the Edward C. Finn Funeral Home, on Wednesday January 2, 2008 from 7-9 pm and on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Knights of Columbus will hold a Service on Thursday eveningh at 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church with burial to follow in St. Peters Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 1 Executive Blvd, Suffern, NY 10901.
