George Sirignano Obituary

SIRIGNANO M.D., GEORGE A.

George A. Sirignano, M.D. of Heritage Hills, Somers, NY, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the age 92. Dr. Sirignano was born February 18, 1919 in Mount Vernon, NY, to Alfonso and Rosa (Cerbone) Sirignano. He attended Mount Vernon schools and graduated from Columbia College in 1940 and from the Long Island College of Medicine (Downstate Medical) in 1943. He married Helen Neubauer on January 14, 1944. She predeceased him on August 15, 2004. Dr. Sirignano served this country during WWII in the U.S. Army, 1st Armored Division, in North Africa and Italy. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. After the War, he returned to Mount Vernon and established a surgical medical practice. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and had been a member of the Medical Board of Mount Vernon Hospital. Dr. Sirignano's brothers and their spouses, P. Raymond and Ann (Campello) Sirignano, Anthony and Lucy (Caruso) Sirignano and William and Verna (Davis) Sirignano; and his sisters and their spouses, Mary and Samuel Mancuso, Lillian and August Petrillo, Dorothy and Richard Spolzino and Sylvia Sirignano, all predeceased him. George is survived by his four children, George A. Sirignano, Jr. (Lanette) of Bedford, NY, Gina McFadden (Martin) of Chicago, IL, Elissa Bigham of Aurora, IL and Gloria Mauro (Eugene) of Pound Ridge, NY; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 5 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM on Monday, June 6 at St. Joseph's RC Church, 10 Croton Falls Road, Croton Falls, NY. A private cremation is scheduled.

The name Dr.Sirignano plays well in my
memory, Mary Tesoro was my Mother=in-law
I married son Richard,who passed this Feb. He was a wonderful husband.
