Gerard "Gerry" McDonnell

Nanuet - Gerard McDonnell, 61, of Nanuet, NY, passed away suddenly on Monday June 10, 2019. Born in County Armagh, Ireland on February 13, 1958 to Francis and Rose McDonnell. Gerry was one of six children. After graduating from the training center for the masonry trade in Ireland, he married the love of his life Josephine Boylan, on July 27, 1976 at St. Patrick's Church in Keady, County Armagh. They emigrated to New York where they raised their six children.

Gerry enjoyed being the proud owner of a successful contracting business alongside his partner, Mickey Loughran, operating in New York City for many years. He was a hard- working gentleman with a great sense of humor, often described as someone who "would give you the shirt off his back." He will be remembered for his love of life, devotion to family & friends, and for being proud of his Irish heritage {especially his South Armagh roots}.

Gerry is survived by his beloved wife Josephine, sons: Christopher, Fitzgerald, Barry, Francis, Damien & Steven. His sisters; Sheila & Marie & brother Michael of Ireland, his grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, his nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide circle of extended family & friends in Ireland and New York. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Rose McDonnell and brothers, Ben & Patrick.

Visiting will be Thursday, June 13, 2019, 7-9pm & Friday June 14, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 728 West Nyack Rd. West Nyack, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday June 15, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Nyack, NY. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack, NY.
