Gloria Gomez Obituary
Garnerville - Gloria J. Gomez, 88, formerly of Garnerville and Stony Point, passed away on January 14. 2020 after a short illness. She was born April 24, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY. Gloria was the daughter of the late Raimundo and Segunda (Gainza) Altonaga. She married Angel P. Gomez in 1956. She was a housewife for many years but later worked in retail, most notably Woolworth's, C. H. Martin's, and Genovese Drugs. She also worked beside her husband for several years when Angel owned the former Haverstraw (Harry's) Coffee Shop in Haverstraw.
Gloria is survived by her children Louisa (Frank) Grossi of Cranford NJ, Gloria (Gary) Anderson of North Harpersfield NY, Angel (Nanette) Gomez of Pensacola Fl , grandchildren Amanda (Greg) Marshall, Laura and Christina Grossi, Raymond (Cayde Laskowski) Anderson, and Mia (Joseph Anady) Gomez and Olivia Gomez, great-grandchildren Kamden, Braden, Logan, Charlotte, and Joseph Jr. She is also survived by her brother Angelo (Delores) Altonaga and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of A. O. Fox Nursing Home for making Gloria's last days filled with love, care and comfort.
Calling hours will be 2-4PM and 7-9PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 15 Buntline Drive, Stamford. A Mass will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, 27 Harper Street, Stamford with the Rev. Michael Cambi celebrating.
