Henry R. Finger

Henry R. Finger passed away on May 24, 2021 in Florida. He was 94 years old. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Finger. He is also survived by his 3 sons. His sons Robert & Mary Finger, James & Elizabeth Finger, Frederick and Marcelle Finger. One of his sons Donald Finger pre deceased him and he is survived by his wife Susan. Also surviving him are a step son and 3 step daughters. His stepson Paul and Barbara Richmond, his step daughters, Margaret and Tom McCaffery, Penny Fiorio, and Robin and Brian Dever. He had 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Henry was a New York Harold Tribune photographer before he entered the US Navy, during World War II, where he was a public relations photographer. After his Honorable Discharge he married his first wife Shirley Tvedt from Seattle, Washington. He became a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 28 where he worked for many years. He started a successful excavation business. His wife Shirley would pass away in 1968. Henry continued in the excavation business which led him to building and renovating

houses. In 1974 he purchased the Railroad Station in Cold Spring NY, which was a gas station at the time and he ran it as a gas station and garage. He eventually converted the railroad station into a restaurant which he and, his wife, Jean ran for several years. After leaving the restaurant business he continued to follow his life's passion of fixing and restoring old cars especially Ford Model "A"s. In 1984 he and Jean visited Florida and purchased a house. In 1989 he was elected and served as Highway Superintendent in Putnam Valley. He and Jean would split their time between NY and FL. He always had a boat and

enjoyed fishing in Florida. A memorial service will be held for him at a future date in New York.

Sorry to hear of Henry's passing. My father owned a Model A and Mr. Finger would always come by and talk cars with him... Very nice man... Tom McCoart. Cold Spring, NY
