Herman Kraus Obituary
West Harrison - Herman L. Kraus died unexpectedly at home on February 3, 2021 in West Harrison, NY at the age of 78.
Herman is survived by his wife Carolyn T. Kraus, and his two children Kenneth L. Kraus (wife Sonia) of White Plains, NY, Kevin J. Kraus (wife Ivy) of Hawthorne, NY and his three cherished grandchildren Kevin, Megan and Jason.
Herman was born on November 6, 1942 in Manhattan, NY to Herman J. Kraus and Elizabeth Kraus (Koch) of Germany. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1960. Herman proudly served in the Air Force until 1964. He married Carolyn T. Corelli in 1966 and then began a fulfilling career at the White Plains Police Department, where he worked for 23 years. Herman began a second career working first for the Federal Marshals service then for the Federal Courthouse building security in White Plains. He finally retired after working there for 18 years.
Herman adored and cherished his three grandchildren, he enjoyed picking them up from school, taking them fishing, and watching them perform in school activities. He would enjoy every moment spent with his grandkids and was most proud of their accomplishments. Herman was also hard working and got great pleasure from helping other people, friends and family. Herman was proud of his military and law enforcement career and was an active church goer and had participated in other organizations. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Carolyn, Ken and Kevin,
We saw via Debbie O’Leary’s Facebook post that Herman/your dad had died so very suddenly. We are so sorry to hear of this. While we didn’t see all of you much after you moved off of Woodcrest the exchange of Christmas greetings made it seem that we were still neighbors — and good neighbors keeping us in touch with things we cared about in White Plains. Blessings and deep caring to all of you. Judy and Barry, Susan and Carolyn too.,

Mr. Kraus you were one of my favorite customers! We always looked forward to every other Saturday when you came in for diner. You will be missed dearly. Thank you for always being kind and generous . RIP
