James Cinelli Obituary

James "Jim" Cinelli

James "Jim" Cinelli passed on Saturday March 14, 2020. He is survived by his sister Jeanette Squittieri and predeceased by his brother Joesph Cinelli.

He leaves behind his four adoring daughters, Susan Turco and husband Gerald, Lisa Karvellas and husband Steve, Jamie Tubito, Grace and Michael Karvellas, fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews, but rejoins his beloved Margaret "Margie" Cinelli (d.2017).

Jim was born in Bronx, NY on December 24, 1934 to James and Susan Cinelli. After high school, Jim served in the United States Navy between 1952-1954, or as his wife would later call it, his "long cruise."

After his military service, Jim began a long and distinguished career as a plumber, first in New York City and later in Rockland County before ultimately retiring in 2006.

A perfect day for Jim was sitting on his porch overlooking his fish pond, listening to oldies, and watching the birds gather at his birdfeeders. He loved playing cards with the guys, and enjoyed oil painting beautiful landscapes — but he had one true passion in life: his Margie.

Theirs was a love from another era—sixty years of laughter and adoration that produced four devoted daughters of their own. Margie and Jim's home was one of warmth, song and affection. Together, they laid the roots for a loving family that would grow larger, but never apart.

Jim's dear friends from the Sons of Italy, Rockland County and Pompano Beach join his loving family in mourning this man who lit up every room he ever entered—but can take solace in knowing he now sits where he belongs: by Margie's side with a smile on his face, a dog on his lap, and a martini in his hand.

Memorial Service will be announced.

So sorry to learn of Jims passing. Sympathy to all of you. I am an old friend from Pelham bay in the Bronx. We usually spoke over the years, haven't heard from him since Christmas. I just sent him a letter because a small group of us were concerned.

I met Jimmy a little over two years ago at the dog park. While Joey & Barkley played, we chatted and discovered how much we had in common. He, originally from The Bronx, as my dad's family was. Rockland County... where he lived, worked and raised a beautiful family with Margie. I too, lived in Rockland County before moving to FL!
So began this friendship...
It was a sad & lonely time for Jim, as he had recently said goodbye to his Margie. We spent many hours telling our funny or serious stories over many meals, at many restaurants in Florida. I admired his love of his wife Margie, his wonderful daughters and the rest of his family.
I was impressed with his talent of painting and his love of all animals and nature, I don't believe I'll ever look at a bird, butterfly or fish the same way ever again!
We both love music, yes, oldies his favorite, but we also enjoyed country music.
So if I could steal a few lines from Garth Brooks, "The Dance"...
"And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance"

My dear friend, I'll miss you so much...Rest in peace.
