Janet Hogan Obituary
Janet Katherine Macarenko Hogan, age 85, died May 31st, 2014. A name that is synonymous with dining in Rockland County. Janet and her late husband, George, were the proud owners of Janet Hogan's Diner Restaurant in West Nyack for over thirty years.
Janet was born in Yonkers, raised in Upper Nyack and a graduate from Nyack High School. She went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Cortland State University.
In 1957, she married her longtime sweetheart, George D. Hogan of Piermont. They lived in Tappan for over 50 years where they raised 4 children.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Victoria and Mark Hamilla of Stony Point; 3 sons, Nickolai and Christine Hogan of Orangeburg, George and Kathy Hogan of Upper Nyack, Daniel and Anna Hogan of West Nyack and 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Mark Jr. & Danielle Hamilla, Christina & Katherine Hogan and Nickolas, Jack, Emma, Kayla and Michael Hogan.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 PM and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at the Hannemann Funeral Home in Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at St. Ann's RC Church in Nyack, with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Dan and the entire Hogan Family:
Your mother and her legacy are an important part of Rockland County History. She and your family have a special place in the heart of Helen Hayes Hospital and she will be missed by us as well as all those many happy faces who left her diner. My parents, Joan and David Berger owned Tappantown Pharmacy in Tappan for 40 years. The Hogan's were customers at our store. I remember Hogan's Diner very well and have fond memories. The Berger Family offers our deepest condolences to the Hogan Family.

Dear Hogan family - My sincere and heartfelt condolences. Your mom was one of my early mentors. She totally understood "the client" and wanted her servers to look, act and work professionally. Many of us were just kids ourselves (16 and 17) but she gave us instruction, reasons, and management guidance. My career in event management for major corporations and the teams I led, definitely drew on her teachings. I hope - if there is a heaven - that she opens another place. when I cross over, I'll apply for a job.

So sorry for the loss of your Mom, I spent many years with my family at the famous "Hogans Diner" and now when I am in Ny go to the one in Orangeburg. I always felt like we were family. My heart goes out to all of you, your Mom is a very special woman! MAY SHE NOW REST IN PEACE!
